Homemaker Heaven

So I don't know if it's just part of my "quarter-life crisis" or what but lately I've been getting crafty. I've never had the desire or talent but all of the sudden I've started sewing (or trying to sew) and other projects. But my proudest venture was a few weeks ago I had my first canning experience! My mom came over and spent hours working with me to can 23 bottles of pears! We ran out of bottles and used the rest of the pears to make baby food. Joshua won't even try fruits/veggies unless it's puree, any suggestions out there for picky eaters? Anyway, Here's the fruit of our labor ...

Tri Tri Again

On Saturday Eric participated in the Cottage Lake Sprint Triathalon! It consists of a 1/4 mile swim, 9 mile bike and 1.6 mile run. Eric worked really hard to train and he did a great job! His overall time including transitions was 56 minutes 58 seconds, and he finished 34th out of about 250!( The picture of him at the finish line says 1 hour because he was in the second heat, so it wasn't completely accurate)

The weather has been great, all last week was warm and sunny and same with this week....with the exception of Saturday when it poured all morning during the race! Poor Eric had to do it all with cold rain pelting him. Gotta love Seattle. Anyway, we're both planning on doing a tri together next spring, so it was helpful for me to see how everything works. Here's some pics but a lot of them turned out blurry :(

Vampire Land

After my sister's wedding on August 1st, we decided to take a detour on our way home, and drive through Forks, Wa. That's right, Twilight town. They offer a driving guide to all the "hot spots" in the town that were supposed to have inspired the book. So it wasn't like we saw ANYTHING from the movie. But it was fun, and we went with my parents, grandparents and my Aunt Lisa and Aunt Susan (also twilight enthusiasts). We had a good time, even though we felt kinda nerdy taking all the pictures....everyone else was too! The town pretty much makes its living off the book. Even the Mexican restaurant we ate dinner at had giant movie posters in the windows!

This is supposed to be the Cullen's home. It actually matches the description in the book pretty well.

A nearby beach we stopped at. Really pretty, but cold and misty! Eric, my dad and my grandpa.
Forks High School. Aunt Susan, me, mom, and Aunt Lisa.
The Local hospital...
Bella's front yard. People actually live in the house....that was probably the most embarrassing part :)
Bella's truck
La Push beach. Funny thing: there were A LOT of stray dogs....
On our way to the Ferry home from Kingston, we stopped and went for a hike to a place called Sol Duc Falls. It was beautiful, and definitely a highlight of the weekend.
